Question Big Toe Crooked After Ankle Fusion
I had my ankle fused with an external fixator last September. Ever since then, my big toe has been crooked. It looks just like a bunion, but not caused by the things that normally cause a bunion according to my dr. He did state the rigid and crooked toe is a result of the fusion. He has been performing fusions with the same method for the past 15-20 years and has never seen this happen before. Has anyone else had this experience?

I have never heard of this happening before due to an ankle fusion. Are you in any pain? Perhaps the toe could be straightened with surgery. Take care.

Yes, I have pain in my toe and my foot (from the way I walk).
I believe it will be straightened out wiht surgery. Thank you for your interest.
