Can anyone tell me what they paid for custom orthotics ??? My husbands doctor told him they may keep him from having surgery for bone spurs and tarsal tunnel and nerve damage. He wants $ 400.00 and our insurance won't pay anything on them. I would think there is a less expensive way for awhile he was wearing a pair that cost us $ 35.00 and they held up for a few months. Any suggestions ???
$400 is the exact price my podiatrist just told me they charge my insurance company for a pair of custom orthotics. If the patient wants to order a 2nd pair, they sell them at a discounted rate of $250 for the pair. Fortunately for me, my "weaken and die" HMO policy actually covers orthotics at 100% with annual replacement. I've got semi-fllexible custom orthotics which are supposed to have a lifespam of 3-5 years. These are so much better than OTS orthotics that I'd consider paying the $400 every 3-5 years to be well worth it if I had to pay out of pocket.
i paid $400 also. i dont remember if insurance covered it. i need new ones now and i know the dr will write a prescription for them and insurance will cover part of it.
Mine also cost $400 for the pair. One of the nice things is that I can go back at any time to have them adjusted, which I've had to do after trying them for a few weeks. They hold up for a long time and can be fit for different shoes too. My insurance pays 80% for them. I guess if they help prevent further problems, like surgery, and alleviate discomfort, they are worth it.
