Is it recommended to do massage of the affected area? If so, will the massage cause it to become worse before it becomes better?

I would not massage a neuroma, that will only make it worse. I've had three neuromas removed from ankle what were due to ankle surgery. I couldn't even stand to touch the area.

I'm not a dr. but a patient who has had many neuroma surgeries and always advised to get massage as soon as dr. allows it - can really help I've heard. One of my dr.'s said you really need to go to a massage therapist that really knows how to work the scar tissue - there's a certain direction, etc. they have to massage it.
