| blood clots after foot surgery?
hello there. i had surgery on 8/1 to have a screw put in my 5th metatarsal. well while i was in the cast, i complained of bad pain in the back of my calf but they were not concerned. i had my cast off 4 weeks ago and my foot and calf are still really swollen but the pain has mostly subsided. the doctor had told me to expect the swelling for a while and it may be 6 months before i could get it comfortably into a shoe.
anyway, i went today for a 4 week f/u appointment and he said "wow, it's really swollen." so now he thinks i have a blood clot. he wanted me to go right away for an ultrasound but they can't get me in until tomorrow at 1:30.
i was just wondering if anyone had any issues with blood clots after surgery? i am really hoping that is not the case because my mother has had them before and she is on coumadin now and it's the last thing i want to do, especially at my age. i am only 38 yo and would hate to end up on that now.
