Hello and please excuse my stating my case instead of replying, but I have almost EXACTLY to what mrsphiz has:
Fierce itching on the 4th and 5th toes, usually before going to bed and on it. But I don't seem to have the cracks, dryness, oozing, scaling, peeling, that I read elsewhere. Just a little reddish between these toes...AND the maddening, intolerable, fierce itching!
I changed dermatologists about 4 times because they'd ignore my pointing to this concern. One of them (crazy!) prescribed Ketoconazole Cream 2% for what seemed like a mild eczema on my forehead which he diagnosed as fungus, and which disappeared even before applying it! So when I saw MY toe symptoms in the Internet called fungus, I decided to apply this Keto thing 3 times a day and hope it will work. If not, I may try the other medicines I see in the internet forums, including vinegar... I hesitate to take anything by mouth to avoid side effects.
I go to a podiatrist 3 or 4 times a year for routine examination, cut nails, etc., free from my health insurance, and I also change these to see which one I'm more comfortable with...you'd thing one of them would discover this condition. True, I didn't mention it to them as I thought it was something for a dermatologist being this is only on a skin. I'll have to see a podiatrist (though I didn't find one I like yet) and definitely point this to him or her.
If anyone has any other good medicines, including home made, or other suggestions I'll appreciate it a lot. I wish good luck to all of us!

P.S. I also read somewhere that athlete's foot can appear on the scalp. My scalp since a year or 2 has been itching a lot all over the head despite my having changed shampoos, conditioners, etc., I wonder if athlete's foot is what I have on my head too??? Arghhhhh!!!
