Does Morton's neuroma cause extreme itching and swelling?

Not particularly. Morton's neuroma is a condition whereby a nrve inbetween your 3rd and 4th toes becomes somewhat inflamed. Actually, the nerve becomes swollen and resembles a small pea before it splits to supply sensation to the 3rd and 4th toes. Most peolpe who have a neuroma complain of burning and sting between their toes as well as numbness. The condition is worsened by wearing shoes that are too tight or inthe case of certain women, wearing shoes that have heels greater than 2 inches. I guess one of the local symptoms could be itching. Nerve problems can manifest themselves in many different fashions be it itching, burning, shooting pains. As far as the swelling goes, where is it located? Where is the itching located?

well,
my toes are itchy all over and swelled all over. the dr. said that it could be athletes foot and prescribed a cream, which didn't do anything. she said that since it didn't work, than probably it wasn't anythin fungal. BUT, recently the itching got so bad that i tried something else, a spray that is meant for athletes foot and fungal problems, and it is working. so, hopefully the problem has been solved. what do you think?

What is the spray you're using? There are several sprays. The one I generally use is Lamisil. It is one of the only topical antifungal meds that actually kills the fungus. The others suchs as desenex and lotrimin only stop the fungus from growing and reproducing. Also, are the spaces between your toes moist and cracked? If so, this would also indicate a possible fungus infection (athlete's foot). I would try the topical spray for two weeks twice a day. Make sure you spray your shoes as well. Change socks often. Fungus thrive in these area. Good luck.

Did the doctor check you for any kind of mites? Sometimes Scabies do that. Were you walking around barefoot or were you around a dog that had mange? Just a long shot, not a diagnosis.
