How should my foot feel after bunion surgery?

I didn't have pain at first, but 1 week later my big toe is still tingling (feels like what your foot does when it falls asleep) and now I feel pain where the bunion was. My big toe also feels like it's being "squeezed." Is this normal? I fell yesterday, but I somehow avoided my foot hitting the ground.

I have 3 permanent screws and I am in a non-weight bearing cast.

i think it would be hard to feel so much with a cast. it sounds normal, but i would call the dr to be sure.

I wouldn't worry about it, but of course check with your doctor. I had that or something like that (a few days after my surgery); it was due to internal swelling putting pressure on the nerves in the foot. I had a sharp pain that felt like a cut going up my foot into the area between the big toe and the next one. It hurt more than any other aspect of the whole process/healing, but it didn't last too long. Do everything you can to reduce the swelling. (Elevating, icing, anti-inflammatories). I also switched to a stronger pain reliever during the episode.
