surgery scheduled - Foot Problems Message Board

june 18th i'm having open foot surgery for plantar fasciitis. my othepedic says there is only a 50% chance of improvement with my pain. he also said it will take 6 months to fully recover from the surgery. i am not taking this news as very good. i have no choice but to try the surgery as i am in considerable amount of pain every day from this affliction. i have tried everything else except the ossatron, my insurance won't cover that. has anyone had this surgery with good results?

Hi Kat, Its been a while. I take it the casting did'nt help? ( you were the one with the casts right?) Can you give me some details of the surgery your going to have? Would be very interested. As for my status; I finally gave up on the orthotics. They just made the side of my heel hurt, an go numb.(?)Havent worn them in about two weeks. Dont know if that problem is cured or just was'nt the problem. Still have spurs though. Can feel them in heels, but they dont hurt very often. Main problem is burning feet. Sisters friend had nerves deadened in one foot. Havent heard how shes recouping though. I,ve been taking boots off at lunch and soaking my feet in cold water seems to help quite a bit. lawn mowing is a killer on my feet. they get so hot they could catch fire. But like I said the cold water seems to help. But like I said before I,ll probably end up having surgery some day. That knot on arch is'nt going away. Thats about it. Let me know about surgery. i had the endoscopic plantar fascitis surgery....at the same time i had a bunionectomy!!! NOT the best way to go! i found that the plantar fas. surgery totally relieved the plantar fascitis.

you are so lucky. i had the endoscopic surgery 6 years ago and it was a total failure. not that i blame the doc. i think this surgery fails alot. they are considering not doing it anymore because of the failure rate.
tomorrow is my big day (tuesday) for the open fasciitia release surgery. also cleaning out around the nerves. i am hoping and praying that this surgery will bring me some relief to my pain.
