I used to get ingrown toenails all the time. The pus coming out means that it is infected. When you get one, the best thing to do is go to the podiatrist. I think I know what you are talking about with the flesh growing where the nail should be. Is the flesh actually hard, like a callus, or is it soft? Sometimes if an ingrown toenail is removed (I had mine removed surgically, and it never grew back), there can be a gap between the healthy portion of the toenail, and the corners of the nail bed, where the ingrown toenail formerly was. A callus (an overgrowth of skin) can grow there. For that, you have to go to a podiatrist once every 2-3 months (or more often) to get it cleaned out. But you should definitely go to one now to get some anti-biotics and get your toe cleaned up properly, and get a proper diagnosis. Keep us posted, and good luck!
