read my posts on "calling those who've had bunion surgery" and "should i get bunion surgery." my doctor advised me to only have one foot done at a time (reduce risk of putting weight on operated foot/feet) my sister's neighbor did have both done at the same time a few months ago. she advised me that if i were to do both at the same time, that i should invest in really good knee pads. she hired someone to help do the grocery shopping and cooking. i think it would be difficult to go about life unless you have someone there 24/7. just think of when you are home sick - are you itching to get out of bed and walk around? i'm like that - as much as i love to sleep, i hate being confined to a bed when i'm sick. so having one foot done at a time is the better choice for me. maybe you should test yourself by trying to get around without using both of your feet. that way you'll know if you can deal with it (crawling to the bathroom, kitchen, trying to get upstairs/downstairs if necessary......see if you are tolerant of waiting for someone to bring you things because you can't drive (like groceries, movie rentals, etc.). i know it's hard for me - like when i get food cravings and wanted to go to the grocery store or just go to target to pick up laundry detergent - i couldn't shop by myself the first few days because i couldn't carry a shopping basket or push a cart while on crutches. hope that helps. good luck.
