help, what is this???? - Foot Problems Message Board

Hi all.

Okay, here is what I am dealing with. A foot that at times is so painful I can't stand to have a blanket laid over it. Intense pain when walking. Causes me to limp as I try to keep weight off it. Excruciating to take off my shoe...to the point of tears. Hurts more when weight is coming off foot (i.e. when starting to lift foot up) then when weight is first put on foot.

Problem is the pain comes and goes. When it comes it lasts a good day or two. Then will be gone for a day or so (although there is lingering pain to a degree.) Then it's right back as intense as ever.

I am just at my wits end. X-ray showed very mild beginning arthritis but no stress fracture. Tests were negative for gout. I am scheduled for a MRI on the 29th to check again for stress fracture.

I am on my feet most of my 8 hour work day. I am overweight also.

Any clues at all to what this could be??? I think I am losing it!!

Wow! That sounds frustrating an painful. My only thought might be nerve damage of some sort but that's just conjecture. Hope the MRI comes up with something for you.

Thanks for the input. I, too, am hoping for some good info from the MRI.

Is the pain in any particular area of the foot?

Most definitely! The pain is on the top of the foot---dead center. I have never, ever had foot pain even being overweight. I can not wait to have the MRI of my foot on the 29th. Then I am scheduled to see a foot specialist on Nov. 1.

I wish I could find SOMETHING, ANYTHING about this. I am at a total loss.

Any ideas???
