I am so glad I found this site! I have had the same problem for over 12 years. I've been prescribed cream for eczema, which seems to help while I'm using it, but the peeling starts again as soon as I stop. It's a steroid cream, so I can't use it for long. I haven't been able to wear sandals for years, I'm so embarrassed about my feet. One thing, though, that is different is that my feet don't itch. I have been to a podiatrist, who has only told me to stop peeling the skin off. He doesn't get it. One strange part (I'm getting brave here) is that my feet have this strange "sweet" smell. It's very hard to describe. It reminds me of the way my sons smelled when they would run a high fever, as babies. I also have calluses at the tops of all of my toes. The peeling is confined to the bottoms of my feet, from the middle on down, and around the backs of the heels. I also was told it was probably "athlete's foot", but I had that once, as a teenager, and I know it usually itches like crazy and affects the toes. My toes (so far) aren't peeling. I did, however, try treating it with athlete's foot cream and spray, with no results. I use one of those callus peelers 3-4 times a week, after a shower, and get about a handful of skin off. Then I use my pumice stone (which is pretty much useless) and put lotion and socks on. It helps little, but not much.
I'm going to try the vinegar. Any other suggestions would be much appreciated!
