well, i figured that i start a new topic about finding comfy and pretty shoes for those with foot related ailments.

here's an excerpt from a reply i posted to someone on another topic page:

the female orthopedic surgeon (who came up with her own line of shoes) is "taryn rose." i've never tried on any of her shoes, but i know that are a bit pricey. i've heard about her from several magazines. and she was mentioned in oprah's show (i think 01/27/03 if you want to look for it on the website) you can find her shoes on [removed] also.

anyhow, i needed heels for a business suit (for school interview) and ran all over the mall - best pair i could find was $70 at aldos shoes, but they weren't the most comfy shoes. so my last resort was nordstrom. i usually shop the more affordable line (under $100, like steve maddens) but i already had planned on getting more "grown-up" shoes for my suit. i found a pair by "linea paolo" for $70 and they were pretty comfy. because of my bunions, i tend to be wide at the front of my foot. so by about the 5th hour of my interview, they began to pinch. other than that, they were the best heels i've ever owned. i have to admit, i tried on some "via spiga' brand shoes at nordstroms and they were the most comfortable shoes i had ever tried on (via spiga's usually cost over $100) - more comfy than the linea paolo. felt like i had nothing on my feet.....but they were too pricey (close to $200, i think) anyhow, when i graduate from my doctorate program and make more money, you can bet that i'll be buying these brands.

i'm going thru bunion surgery right now....just had my left foot done 02/27/03. will have my right foot done after the left completely heals. so as you can tell, i'm willing to fork over the cash for some comfy shoes so that i can minimize the risk of recurring bunions later on in life. i'm 26 years old, and have had bunions my whole life. they run in my family, although i notice only the girls have the bunions. (although, my brother-in-law will be needing the surgery and his sister (had bunionectomy over 10 years ago) and his mother also have bunions) his sister still wears heels, even thought her doctor advised against it. so far so good - she has not experienced any recurrance. but you never know, i want to wear heels, but only will buy comfy ones.

anyhow, anyone else out there find comfy and pretty (and maybe more affordable) shoes they'd like to share with everyone?
