Hi, phearns,
I had surgery to correct bunion & hammertoe deformity (2nd toe) on right foot 6/3. I had a pretty extensive procedure that involved cutting the 1st metatarsal and placing 2 titanium screws, so I was in hard casts for 3 weeks. I had all kinds of muscle aches in my arms and shoulders due to using a walker and basically hopping on my left foot, but after about a week I looked like I had been going to the gym! I was also getting weird aches and pains in my hips from lounging around too much. All this stuff gradually disappeared (thank God) once I was out of the casts and into a "walking cast/boot". So don't despair, it's just your body rebelling against using muscles in different ways, and it should pass. Hope this helps a little.
