Finally! A fellow diabetic! But do you see a podiatrist? I'm being treated for a diabetic foot ulcer, five weeks now, and every week he shaves off another layer of bunion callous. I stopped using an emory board because he says don't let anythng rub there. Sanding I guess can make it worse. Due to peripheral neuropathy, I don't feel a thing, and my regular doctor said it's okay to take garlic, otc, odorless, for an antibiotic when you're allergic to most of them.
There's a prescription lotion, about $10, but I like my lifelong favorite brand, J...... Extra or Ultra Healing, couple of times a day. They say don't put it between your toes, and not right on your ulcer, where you have some medication and a saline-moistened bandage.
Good luck.
