I had a calcaneal osteotomy, achilles reattachment, removal of bone spurs and fasciotomy. I thought the pain meds would really help but this is pure misery!!!

years of plantar facitis and then about 3 yrs of achilles tendinitis..my foot was starting to give out on me and I had painful spurs on my heel. I'm so uncomfortable! I was taking percocet but went back to the doc becuz the splint was rubbing against the incision. He put me in a cast and gave me dilaudid. I didn't think I would be feeling anything with that kind of med in me!

I don't know very much about your surgery, but I do know dilaudid is a strong drug. That isn't giving you any relief? Did you go right to that from the percocet? Seems a lot of people try vicodin... that one always makes me sick, though.

What does your surgeon say about the recovery?

Vicodin makes me itch. The percocet wasn't working at all, so he switched me to dilaudid yesterday. It gives me some relief but when it's over, it is OVER. Are other folks experiencing a lot of pain even when on the pain meds?

My doc said my surgery "wasn't minor" that he did a lot of bone spur removal, and that it will be pretty bad for a few days
