Hard Mass on foot. What is this? - Foot Problems Message Board

I just noticed this morning that I have a hard mass, like another bone on top of my foot. It's like its growing from the "knuckle" that supports my big toe. It does not hurt, and could have been there for years, but I was recently diagnosed as a diabetic and have started to look and take care better care of my feet. Any idea what this could be? I will bring this up on my next visit to see my doctor, but wanted to know if anyone had an idea what this could be. Thank you!!

If it's like a bump on either side of the big toe joint, it sounds like you have turf toe. If it begins to hurt or restrict your activities, you may have to have a cheilectomy to repair it. There have been several threads here on cheilectomy, hallux limitus and hallux rigidus...all related.
