I am going to have surgery for Morton's Neuroma in the near future and at my last visit my doctor mentioned doing a endoscopic gastroc recession procedure along with the neuroma removal.

Here's what the brochure says that was given to me at my last visit:
Endoscopic Gastroc procedure is used specifically for patients with a tight (contracted) gastroc muscle. It also says that a tight gastroc muscle contributes to the development of many common conditions such as:
Flat feet/fallen arches
Bunions/hammertoes
Metatarsalgia/neuroma
Arthritis of foot and ankle
Excessive use of heel
Diabetic foot problems
Joint pain
Heel pain/plantar facitis

It also goes on to say"A tight Gastroc Muscle in the back of your leg increases the mechanical stress, pressure and pain to your feet by not allowing the proper motion and alignment of your joints to occur"

So the way I understand from my doctor so far is that this procedure along with the neuroma removal will give me better results. I would love to hear from anyone who has had this procedure done and how it worked for you. I will be seeing my Doctor again next week and will be getting so more information. I sure don't want to get any more procedures done than necessary.
