Orthopedic - AFO - What shoes do you find the best esp. for work?
I am having a very very hard time finding decent looking shoes that fit my AFO. I have my AFO for a drop foot. It goes under the foot with a bar up the side of the leg and then velcro holding it on mid-calf.
I normally wear a 8 medium sneaker/ shoe but have now resorted to buying a size 9 wide for the AFO foot and a 8 1/2 shoe for the other foot.
Where have you bought shoes and what specific styles worked well for casual and work?

Hi,
I wore an AFO for one year when I first developed ptt in my right foot. I found it very difficult to wear anything other than sneakers. Fortunately, working as a teacher makes it easier to dress more casually. Otherwise, nothing else seemed to work...

This is my problem. I am going on 2 1/2 years wearing sneakers. I just bought new sneakers (or shall I say, bought 2 pair because i had to get one pair that was wide and one regular). I also went and bought a pair (ok, again 2 sets) of shoes called nurse mates. They should come any day now and I will report back when I get them.

There are orthopedic shoe stores out there, you can try the yellow pages for one near you. Also, a uniform store tends to have very practical, professional looking footwear.
