What type of ankle brace? - Foot Problems Message Board

The fracture is healed and I'm working on getting my ankle strength and mobility back. Once I'm pretty much walking normal what type of ankle support would be good to wear to provide some support but not be too limiting?

I love my lace-up. I have two, this would be much more useful if I had brand names, but I like the one with plastic inserts better than the one with metal stirrup things.

If that's not enough support, maybe a velcro aircast would be better.

I'm using a velcro air cast now and thinking about what I might need for ankle support after I don't need the air cast anymore.

My lace up is an ASO brace. I love it for "in-between".

My doctor gave me an ASO. Laces up, has removable plastic supports, and figure 8 strapping. It works well and I don't notice any limitations when wearing it for sports activities now. I actually even wear it while swimming because the flopping action makes my ankle sore. It can go in the washing machine so why not the pool.

I've heard good things about the AirSport brace, but never tried it.
