Ok so yesterday I went for my first doc appt. I found out I have more hardware in then the doc thought I would need. I have a plate on the outside of my foot for the bone graft (knew that one) and a plate on top of the big toe bone at the base (unknown prior) two screws in at the base of the big toe (knew that) and an anchor (unknown). Aparently there were some tendons at the arch that needed to be attatched to something, so the anchor goes into the bone and has places to attatch the tendon to it.
My foot looks like somthing from Frankenstein. There are three incisions starting at the bunion site and going down to the side of my ankle. There is pretty much no room inbetween them. My greatnephew counted a total of 34 stitches.
I did find that I got realy sweaty and kind of dizzy from sitting up so long (to the docs and waiting room). Had to hurry home and lay down.
I am on a single Lortab every 6 hours.
Did anyone have some realy freaky dreams when they slept while on the lortab? Last night was realy wierd and could not wake up from it even though I knew I was asleep. So I think I am changing pain meds.

Well you all take care will check in with you in a few days. It is kind of hard to type with my foot up on the desk turned sideways.

Hope your recovery goes well. I had very freaky dreams, but I was taking percocet. I would guess that any opiate drug may have that side-affect.
Percocet made me wake up often, but I would be so dazed that I would fall asleep again. I had the sweaty/dizzy experience too. I think in my case, it was the meds causing it. Hope you find a medication that will work for you.
Every week was better than the last. Your on your way to a happy foot.

My dreams weren't freaky, just very real. I only took the Lortab for 3 days and then nights until the 6th day. I just couldn't handle the dreams after that. Started to take advil before bed and that is enough.

My doc said no anti-inflamitorys untill at least 2-3 weeks post op. He said that the kind of post op swelling is good for healiig bones. No clue but will wait it out.
Having some problems with the knee walker I have I cant get into and out of the bathrooms. The walker is 23 1/2 inches wide and the doorways are 23 inches. So I can get to there then have to use a walker into the bathroom which is very difficult. I called and their checking on it to see if there is a little narrower one.
I am getting around the house a little but not much or very far yet. The step down living room is inbetween the kitchen and bedrooms and has prooved to be a decent obstical. At least to do it with out pain.
