Toe Fusion (4!) and Morton Neuroma removal - Foot Problems Message Board

Hello
I'm 5 days post op from my surgery to fuse 4 toes and remove my neuroma. I think I need to learn patience as I need to keep my foot up for some time yet! Joy of joys, once I've recovered from this op on my right foot, I have to have the same done again on my left foot! (Though no neuroma thankfully). I guess 8 toes is enough for anyone? Anyone else out there who has had so many toes fused? From an initial quick look whilst in theatre - yes I had it done under a local - my toes look great. I didn't know what my toe nails acutally looked like!
At least, so far, the surgery has not been so painful. Thanks probably to the pain relief but hey, bring on the medication!
My biggest challenge is coping with the boredom - hence finding this forum courtesy of a laptop.

sorry you have to go through another surgery. but you seem to be doing great! read books, watch television, talk on the phone and have friends come over. are wb or non?

Hi, I still have to learn all the acronyms of this forum. I presume wb is weight bearing? I can only weight bear when I go to the bathroom - thats it. Not sure how long this rule is in place. Back to see my doctor next week for a check. What are your experiences? Are you recovering from surgery?

i am sorry-you are right wb does mean weight bearing. i am recovering from a 2nd toe surgery. i have to wear a surgical shoe or boot when i walk. when i had toe fusion, a couple years ago i was in a cast so i had to use crutches.

Do you have a cast this time? I've had 4 toes done and don't have a cast. I think I'm grateful for not having one.
