ice and elevation. lots of both!! if you've got a cast, try an ice pack behind your knee. it really does help.

also, i was told to put the ice pak around the ankle, as there was a pin sticking out of foot that you dont want to disturb, and putting ice right on the surgery was a no no also. all blood going to the foot comes through the ankle, so ice the ankle. and elevate, elevate, elevate! and get lots of rest so body can rejuvenate. best of healing to you. ELEVATION is the most important my doctor said. and ice will go through a cast. it's not as noticeable but it does.
