Well, I promised I would come back to report my progress good or bad.
I am walking now with no crutches or cane and today for the first time I didn't wear my sneaker with orthotics I slipped on my winter Uggs! Yes there is still a slight limp and stiffness, but I am functioning in my daily activities and so grateful!
Walking barefoot is still the hardest but it's only been 6 months post injury for me and 5 months post surgery so as someone on the thread said to me in a year I see myself good as new.
I start PT next week hopefully getting rid of this limp! I believe in my case the amount of time my foot was in a hard cast about 10 weeks post surgery was too long and my foot healed curved inward. This causes me to bare my weight on the wrong part of my foot and that is why my ankle hurt and swells.
Now that I am aware I try to walk correctly even though it's akward and it helps a lot!
I still have 3 screws in my midfoot with no plans to remove them and they seem to be fine.
I cannot run yet and go downstairs very slow and it's hard to carry my one year old and walk very far but that will come in time I am sure!
Point is if your newly injured you have a waiting game and need to realize that it takes time to recover from this injury but you will get back to your regular mobility if you seek help sooner than later and do not avoid the surgery if it is needed.
Hope everyone in my injury timeline is doing better everyday! I know I am and so thankful to have my independance back!
