Ankle Calcification - Foot Problems Message Board

Hi.
Has anyone had experience with a tibia bone calcification? After dealing with what was originally thought of as soft tissue damage (MRI readings) for 7-weeks and a very "UNDERWHELMING" 6mm anterior talus bone bruise, I'm not getting much better. I have a calcification on my tibia, very near my bone bruise and near the talus. The medical team (of 8 different docs/ specialists) didn't think much of this calcifiation b/c a lot of people have them and they don't cause problems. Because the nature of this recent injury is very strange (relaxing on the couch doing ROM moves with my foot on 11/20/08) and because I was able to recover for a bad inversion ankle sprain on the same ankle a year ago without any problems they are theorizing that this calcification could easily hit the talus when in certain moves and cause INTENSE pain. I meet with the ankle suregon on 1/22/09. They are telling me that surgery is an option (to remove the calcification) but I won't know anything until I meet with the ankle suregon on 1/22/09.

Any inupt would be appreciated.

Because the working parts of the ankle joint are so tiny, even a little "thing" in the wrong place can cause serious problems. You can read about my adventure with a soft-tissue lesion. (just search my topics on Foot Problems board.)
