I have No medical insurance. I fell off my bike on Oct 6,2008. The doctor could not rule out a Lisfranc injury. I limp. walk on the side of my foot, take percocet, was black and blue instantly, swollen and still is and I am 62 years old. What do I do?

Okay, at the very least the foot should be immobilized in a cast or boot. Whatever is wrong, you can't heal without that.

I decided to treat my lisfranc injury without surgery. (34 year old mom of two). The amount of displacement was 2 mm. I was non-weight bearing for six weeks (16 days of which I was in a hard cast). On Monday I will finally be getting out of the walking boot. This will make 12 weeks of immobilization. I have no pain at this point but I know I will be dealing with flexibility issues after not moving my foot or ankle for so long. From what I've learned in the last 12 weeks, whether or not you have success without the surgery depends on how bad the injury is and how dislocated things are. I posted pretty much my whole story here on a different thread (Another lisfrancer). Hope things get better for you

Hi-I think I replied to you before.I had the misdiagnosed lisfranc and opted for no surgery,since I started walking and returned to work after 6weeks of hell.My displacement is 5mm,but the surgeons said it wasn't that bad.They are going to monitor me and we will see with time.I have a 15month old son and had no financial aid at time of injury,so it was important I returned to work.Well so far so good.Not breaking any records,but hardly have any serious pain.Have to wear hard sole sandals in the house and at the office,also bought rocker bottom shoes (skechers has them too) to help with longer walks.How is your level of pain.Do you see your doctor soon?I think this will heal with time,may never be perfect,but the surgery sounds just as bad and no guarantees.

hey-just wanted to ask if you can wear highheals now?...I'm starting to walk better and the foot swells less,it is just very discouraging because all my shoes are ugly....I know this sound rather vain,but it is important to me.It has been 3months since I broke it.
