Hi my name is Linda and i just had bunion surgery last week. I have screws in my toe and its just starting to heal. My question though, since I work on my feet all day how long do you think it will be before I will be able to return to work. I also have a heel spur and am being treated for plantar fascilitis. Will inserts in my shoe really help. I am hoping to go back the April is that a realistic goal. Please tell me what to expect

I'm sure it depends on what your job is and what your Dr.'s orders are. I had dble bunionectomies a year ago Jan. and was able to work (at home in studio) half days sitting at about 2 weeks and by 3 weeks was back at it full time. I was able to walk to the bathroom on day one.
Is yours non weight bearing? What did your Dr. say?

the doctor had me on partial weight baring, I have another question today I finally took a shower since the surgery and I was wondering if there is any kind of cream that I can put on my foot, the skin is very, very dry and flaking.
I have to admit my foot feels very stange,especially my big toe. I am getting very depressed at not being able to do what I did before

Actually, depending on how much swelling you have had, the skin peeling and flaking off likely is normal and not just plain old dry skin. When your foot swelled up after surgery, it stretched out the skin quite a bit. As the swelling goes down, that stretched skin isn't quite elastic enough to shrink back to size, so it will peel off.

And, a nice little perk to all that skin falling off, your feet will be SUPER soft and smooth for a while! All the normal, rough, wear-n-tear hardness on your heels and sides of your feet will be gone, gone, gone! I loved that part!
