I've got ridiculously dry skin on my heels, the side of my big toes, and half way down my foot towards the inner side, and going up my ankle on the back. It's very thick, but not neccessarily flakey, ie scraping it off will work but pumicing it doesnt.
I've tried using pumice stones, scraping, sanding, using moisturiser, E45 and Flexitol Heel Balm both before and after doing all that, being barefoot, socked, fully shoed, allsorts.
I can't seem to find a way to sort out this very dry skin on my feet, having tried everything, and I'm tempted to go to the chiropodist, but I'd rather ask to see if you guys can help me first.
NOTE. Any product recommendations etc, note that I'm in the UK.
I would go see a podiatrist and ask for a prescription for urea dead skin removal pads. They get rid of dead skin like it's no ones business! I had unbelievably dry and flaky skin after foot surgery and they made my feet so much softer.
Also after you do something like that, I would recommend putting a really thick hydrating lotion/creme (like cetaphil or something similar) on your feet before bed and covering them with socks so that the lotion or creme really soaks in your feet overnight.
When I've had dry skin on my hands and feet I put moisturiser on thick and then put socks or gloves on and sleep in them, i know it's a bit random. Recently i've been using this Vaseline moisturiser called Sheer Infusion and it's been working quite well.
Just read the post above and realise the same comment was made about the socks, guess it's not that random after all
