seeking NYC orthopedic surgeon for possible lisfranc injury
Hello,
I fractured my foot in 2 places nearly 4 months ago now. I am looking for a good recommendation for an orthopedic surgeon in NYC that might help to properly diagnose my situation, which may a lisfranc injury with fractures. I will get the MRI this week to find out for sure.
Thank you!
Re: seeking NYC orthopedic surgeon for possible lisfranc injury
Look into a board-certified foot and ankle surgeon affiliated with a teaching hospital. NYU has several highly respected foot and ankle surgeons, as does Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx.

Thank you very much for your reply. I will look into that. I also heard the the Hospital for Special Surgery is quite good for orthopedic surgery...I was hoping someone had a specific Dr. recommendation for that hospital.
I hope to get this addressed soon. It is frustrating to hobble around on crutches and walking boot for nearly 4 months and face the thought of doing it all over again if I need surgery...hopefully not.
Thank you!

The Hospital for Special Surgery is excellent. Highly rated ortho residency there. If you could locate someone there (they should have a list of docs who have operating priveleges) who speciliazes in feet, that might be a good start.

NYCFoot,
Last article I saw, HSS was ranked #1 in the world for orthopedic surgeries for the 10th year in a row or so, so given your location I would definitely look into going there.
I live a hop skip and jump away on LI, but unfortunately when I needed my ankle surgery no doctors took any insurance, the hospital does, but not the doctors. Dr. Kennedy is famous for his ankle 'prowess' but I am sure there are other foot specialists there as well.
Just an fyi .. my brother was operated in there a few years ago for a rare injury with his achilles, no other hospital would touch it, and aside from his amazement that his neighbors were Princes and Kings from other countries, he did say that the food was amazing, gourmet quality. Not bad getting not only the best doctors/hospital in the world but good food too!

Dear Kimberp and Titchou,
Thanks so much for your replies.
Kimberb - great to know about your brother's experience at HSS...yes, insurance is always an issue, but I think I might be able to swing it...we'll see.
It always makes 100% of difference knowing you can trust your doctor... and it seems HSS has the rankings to back it up.
I hope to get my MRI very soon so we can find out why this foot is not getting better, though I hope surgery will not be needed! I can't wait to get out of this walking boot & crutches.
