| ankle fusion questions
Hello everyone. About 7 years ago, I had a boo-boo and broke my ankle. I did a number on my talus bone and just about blew part of out the side of my foot. I totally dislocated the talus and broke it into four chunks. The ortho surgeon put it back together and sent me on my way. SInce then, my talus has collasped. Not just a little but I have smashed it down really flat. I have endured a lot off pain and it is really starting to interfere with my life. I get where I sit on my butt to much because if I do to much, I pay the price.
I am considering surgery and wanted to know for those who have gone through this type of surgery, what time frame will I be down? Keep in mind that they will most likely remove my talus bone. I understand this is a harder type of fusion to do. It will make one leg shorter than the other. This way I can walk in circles all day. Whoever has had ankle fusion with or without the talus, please speak up and let me know about how long it takes to recover and if it was successful. Thanks
