Achilles tendonitis following Brostrom

A few weeks ago I was given the go ahead to transition out of my boot into an ASO brace and tennis shoes. I was 9 weeks post Brostrom at the time. I did well for about a week and then the back of my heel starting hurting. So now I have achilles tendonitis at the insertion point. It is slowly getting better, but I am still wearing my boot at work (teacher) and my shoe and ASO brace for everything else unless it requires walking long distances. My physical therapist has questioned my shoes, thinking that perhaps they are adding to the problem.

Anyone have shoe recommendations. Doc wants me in a tennis shoe type shoe until I see him again in 3 weeks. I have open backed Merrells, but they don't work well with the brace. I slide right out of them. Suggestions....
