the other day I was walking down stairs and all of a sudden my big toe hurt terrible....it felt like I stepped on a needle. I looked at my toe and couldn't find anything stuck in it, but it's very tender and almost feels numb/tingly when I rub it underneath. I think it's some kind of nerve pain. I looked up a couple things and am wondering if it's mortons neuroma?
Any ideas what this could be?
Neuromas are not typically under the big toe, but rather between toes. It could be any number of things though - sesamoiditis, arthritis in the big toe, gout, etc. If it continues to bother you, I suggest seeing a sports med ortho who does feet.
thanks for your response, I'll look up some of your ideas....
also forgot to mention, it seems like it's underneath a callous, if that makes any difference.
