Hi,

I believe I have morton's neuroma (have an appt with my podiatrist monday for actual diagnosis) but I have all the symptoms: after playing tennis (or walking in heels for a while) have burning feeling on heel pad, pain on heel pad and toes, some numbness on toes, feels better after shoes are off, feels better after a warm water foot soak.)

So, while I'm going to my podiatrist, his assistant told me right off the bat that my health insurance doesn't cover orthotics (which are usually prescribed for this condition.) So, I wanted to ask anyone on the forum who has this condition, can you recommend a good, reputable place either on the internet (I saw one company advertise they'll create a custom orthotic for you for $178--my podiatrist charges $580) or in New York City, my home town.

A Morton's neuroma won't have anything to do with your heel. You can get a small pad from your doc that's good for neuromas...I have a whole bag of them....

thanks--by "heels", btw, I meant walking in high heel shoes.

Sorry, you said pain on heel pad so....and it may not be a neuroma. That's usually a stabbing pain in one particular spot. You may have fat pad atrophy if it's effecting the whole pad.

My mistake. I meant to write, "toe pad." The pain is mainly in my toe pad. I have no pain whatsoever in my heel or heel pad.
