 Orif calcaneous plate/screws removal recovery?
Hi, I had my ORIF of my calcaneous in March 2009 and they added a plate and 9 screws to my foot.
I am now booked to go in for the plate/screws removal Jan. 27/11. I opted to get the hardward out because I've found that I couldn't wear my shoes or any type of heel on a shoe. The thickness of the area where all the hardware is located and the hypersensivity of that area stopped me from wearing my leather shoes. All I can wear right now is sneakers and very soft sided shoes.
What I was wondering is, how long before I will be back on my feet after I have the hardware removed? It can't be any worse than the recovery time for my initial surgery, which btw, I have been reading some horror stories in this forum, and I haven't had NEAR the trouble that some people have had here, thank God!
So, if someone went through this ORIF hardware removal surgery, I would very much appreciate a response to my question. Thank you so much for insight on my life altering experience.
