Toe Fusion Plate Cracked!
Has anyone heard of the implanted plate cracking? My surgeon said it is because the bone underneath has not totally healed yet, so the constant friction on the plate has caused it to crack. This is shocking to me because the plate is steel. So now I am using a bone growth stimulator to encourage quicker healing. My surgery was in March, and this problem just happened now, 4 months later. I am devastated because I thought healing was going well. The crack was found during a routine xray. I am wondering, could the plate be defective? or is it me?

i have never heard of that. 4 months is still early. i am just taking a guess and the plate could have been defective. hang in there it will heal.

I agree with Debbie g....after all, the plate was designed to hold things together during healing.
