| Pin removal and problems after foot surgery
I had foot surgery on June 14th, 2011. I had a torn 2nd metatarsal with dislocation. I also had some torn ligaments and tendons on the bottom of my foot, I think it is called Plantar's Plate tear. By the way this all stemmed from having cortisone injections on the top of my foot to correct some soreness on the ball pad of my right foot.
I had a pin put threw my 2nd toe that was about 5 inches long, some bone removed from my second toe, a plate and 2 screws put in and also some repair work on the bottom of my foot to fix the ligaments. So I have a 1 inch incision on the bottom of my foot and an 2 1/2 inch incision on the top. The doctor took my pin out after 5 weeks. It has been almost 8 weeks now and I still cannot fit in shoes and the top of my foot is so tender. I am off pain meds but should I still be this sore? My foot looks reddish purple still and it feels really hard and swollen by the incision. Can anyone tell me if this is normal and how long till I will feel good enough to walk, say 1/2 mile? I am getting frustrated and tired of all this pain. I had my surgery done in Akron, OH at the Crystal Clinic.
