Plate and wire removal from ankle,what to expect?
 

I'm 10 weeks post op,having suffering a trimalleolar fracture,i visited my consultant yesterday after having had more x-rays...i have been told that i have to have 2 of the wires removed from the inside of my ankle as they are working themselves free and digging into the surrounding soft tissues,
I guess that does explain why it feels like wasp stings around my ankle when i stand.
He also said that one of the plates may have to come out also :(
I'm not quite sure what to expect and didn't ask as many questions as i should,could anyone shed any light on the situation for me?

What should i expect from this second surgery?
Will it require another hospital stay?
And will i be able to walk with crutches straight after?
