In August 2010, I had a lapidus arthrodesis surgery of the first metatarsal ray.
The surgery was unsuccessful and did not alleviate the metatarsalgia in the ball of my foot (supposedly due to hyper flexibility of the arch). Since surgery my foot pain has increased and become more complex. I am going to request to have the screws removed in the hopes that it will at least alleviate the sharp pain and sensitivity I feel on top of my foot, and the increased pain I feel during rainy/cold weather.

I am of course wary of more surgery, but this seems like a good choice. I have read a handful of posts stating that screw removal has been helpful. Can anyone advise me from personal experience with a similar situation? Has anyone had screws removed and later regretted it?
