In one week, I've having foot surgery to address the pain in the ball of my foot/toes. The procedure planned is Left First MTP Cheilectomy, and 2nd & 3rd distal metatarsal osteotomy. Has anyone experienced this surgery? Any tips or suggestions for a smooth recovery?
I'm nervous!
As long as you have an experienced ortho those are fairly straight forward procedures. I've only had the cheilectomy with osteotomy on both great toes - nothing on any of the other toe joints - so can't address that. My left was done about 9 years ago and the right one one year ago. Both went very well. Recovery totally uneventful. Don't recall how long before dancing and jogging with the first one but last year i had it done on June 15 and went to a dance on August 5 with no pain, no issues at all.
Good luck and follow all the post op instructions. And take the pain meds for the first few days for sure....honestly - it can hurt like you know what if you don't!
