Foot and toe pain and deformity of the toes may be caused by rheumatoid arthritis. I would see a rheumatologist and get checked for that, and perhaps consult an orthopedic surgeon after the rheum visit if the toe deformity is so bad you can't wear shoes. They can also fit you with orthotics to cushion where needed, and toe separators can help keep toes from rubbing together. These can be purchased at the drug store. The gel kind are soft and comfortable. Wear shoes with wide, high toe boxes to prevent cramping and friction. Your feet are so important to keep you mobile, you need to find out what is causing this.
hi ladybud ive been to podiatrist ive had insoles made to cushion my foot had toe seperators but nothing has helped i cant wear new shoes or even trainers because the pain at the ball of my foot is that bad.i have the callous cut out from my ball of foot but they are back within couple of days
It is not normal for a man your age to have such bad foot pain. The ball of your foot is where the metatarsal joints are and those are affected by rheumatoid arthritis, which absolutely should be checked (blood tests). It is less likely, but gout should be ruled out as well. Please see a regular MD or rheumatologist to check this and other possibilites out so you can walk. You need help to treat the underlying condition, not just the symptoms.
