| 2nd surgery OCD
Ok people, I need some basic OATS advice cause I'm scared to death. I have a 10mm posterior medial OCD lesion I had surgery for jan 2010. I've had lots of pain over the past 6-8 months. Went in for X-ray, found out the lesion isn't healing well which equals an osteotomy to the medial malleus and an allograft or cadaver bone where the lesion is. I am a nurse who works three 12 hr shifts a week on my feet. I'm terrified this time around will be very different and put me behind a desk for a while, that's after 12 weeks non-weight-bearing, and lord know how much rehab&pain. Can someone give me a realistic answer on this? Also, can someone help me and let me know what I'm leaving out in preparation? I have my crutches, knee walker, elevation pillow wedge, shower chair, waterproof cast cover, and will hopefully get some good pain meds. I have 2 kids 8 & 11. I'll take any advice! Even though I've been dealing with this 2.5 years, I still feel like a novice. I'm 31 with the ankle of a 50yr old male, ex-football player so I'm told by one of the docs. Lovely.
