I was out walking a couple of weeks ago when I felt a pain begin in my right foot. By the time I got home I was limping and wasn't able to lay it flat within my house. I was wearing sneakers with no real support, I could only suspect that this was part of the cause since I don't remember having any sort of impact or twist. I'm an average walker and they were shoes I wore on and off for a few years.
I thought it was my ankle at first, but now I think it has to do with just the bottom of my foot. I don't feel anything in the heel, it's more towards the right outer side and somewhere in the middle. The pain has subsided after resting a week but whenever I walk for more than several minutes, it feels like the pain can return and send me back to not being able to lay it flat again. What I hate more than the pain is this very weird feeling when I move my foot and I'm having a hard time trying to explain it. It's kinda like my foot is held together by rubber bands that are either too tight or too loose to the point that I can feel them and it gives off a cringe inducing vibration. Does this sound like anything specific?
I'm not insured so I'm of course worried about a doctor visit, but I know I'll end up having to go sooner or later. I was hoping to at least get a general idea of what this could be. I've never had prior foot problems before, would this involve an x-ray or is that just for bone injuries? Should I be icing it even if I don't see any visible inflammation?

I once had foot drop.i did have surgery to correct the problem. That was my first.I have had two.I think you mentioned a insurance issue?I would guess you have the s1 nerve impinged or swollen. My advice is to take anti inflamatories,Ice and try and get a MRI,or if you could afford to find a good chiro who knows, just never give up
I've had a few foot surgeries/problems and when you mentioned the rubber band thingys it made me think of the faciitia (I think that's what its called) the two tendons that run along the bottom of the foot on either side. When you don't wear good support they can get stretched out too much and can sometimes get a heel spur from it. Try taking a partially filled water bottle and freezing it and rolling it under the arch of your foot when sitting at work or whatever to help w/ the pain and maybe take some anti-inflammatories like Advil if you can (as long as it doesn't interfere with any other meds you may be on). Always wear a shoe w/ good arch support and never go bare footed even when you get up in the am slip on a pair of shoes real quick.
My dr. told me to get New Balance tennis shoes but I couldn't handle them in the summer cuz my feet get too hot so I bough some Birkenstocks and they really helped w/ support. Don't wear flip flops whatever you do that sometimes is the cause of this, if its what you have. Try doing some stretches in the am before you get out of bed by bringing your toes back up towards your knees kinda and giving that arch a good stretch. You can also strengthen it by taking a towel and putting it on the floor and using your toes scrunch that towel towards the back of your foot.
Not sure if I'm getting it right or not but I hope it helps. CJ
