re: My A2 PTT reconstruction

Mine was about the same time...I was done and on my way back to the hotel by 5pm! You might want to ask them if you can have a small snack early in the morning. 8 hours is usually the rule. You are going to do just fine. It will be over before you know it!

re: My A2 PTT reconstruction

They said only 1 to 2 nights. We shall see. I am not looking forward to this snow storm coming. We could get a lot of inches between tonight and tomorrow. Not sure if because I am going in so late it might be at least 2 nights now. We shall see. I hope not. I'm looking forward already to being home.

My surgery is not until 2:00 in the afternoon. I can't believe it is that late, but hopefully most of the bad travel will be done by that time. I have to be at the hospital at 11:15. Yes it is bad timing. Thank you so thinking about me. I will lead the way and help you in a few weeks. hahahahaha

Stay in the hospital as long as you can. It's the easy part. Home is harder. I stayed four nights. It's now been three weeks and it's tough. Plus they going to give you pain medication on the drip in the hospital. It will buy you some time. Because after you get home you'll have to be on pills. Good luck keep us posted. Be sure to put pillows in the car and a wedge so that you can sit in the backseat. Across the seat. All this for the ride home. You may need someone to help you in and out of the car. Remember non-weight bearing. The scooter works wonderfully. Be well.

The surgery is scheduled for 2:00, but I have to be at the hospital at 11:15. Thanks ddill for the tips. I don't really want to stay that long, but who knows I might not feel like coming home becuase it will be harder like you said. I will have my husband take the tablet and see if I can get online to update you guys.

re: My A2 PTT reconstruction

Thank you so much. Did Dr. D say you were staying overnight too? I'm sure you will be too. Thanks I am so very nervous right now that I feel sick to my stomach. I can't even have any herbal tea becuase they said no herbal tea 10 days before surgery because it could interact with the anesthesia.

Dr D told me one night in hospital but based on what others are saying, don't push it if he gives you an option. Also, if the surgery is late in the day a second night might be advisable.

I know not sure if that is what he tells everyone or not. Plus you are right, if it is late in the day another day might be better. I definitely let you know. Thanks again for thinking about me.

Cinder, you are going to be fine either way. If you stay in the hospital thay will wake you very four hours to take your vitals which can be comforting. If you are home, you will be in your own bed and can take your meds on your own schedule. It will be fine either way. Honestly, sweetie, you just need to get to get the operation over with and you will be fine. 24 hrs from now it will over. Try to rest cuz I know you won't sleep. The hard part will be over soon. BIG. HUGS!!!

Thanks so much Ginger. I am starting to second guess if this is the right thing now. I can't believe how nervous I am. I think I will have some hot chocolate now and watch some TV. It will be over soon you are right. I guess having the Christmas prep to keep me busy and work was a good thing.

re: My A2 PTT reconstruction

Cinder, I just slipped off my scooter AGAIN. If ever there was a reason to get off this thing ASAP I am it! The pain this time was much less, but I am going to bed with an ice pack strapped to my ankle. Pretty Woman is on TV...I watch it it over and over. Please don't worry about tomorrow. I saw my local ortho today and he said " I can't believe I hold your
ankle and your heel is here...when it used to be here!?". It will so be worth it. Just say your prayers tonight and add a little for yourself. The rest of us will bring on the big guns. Tomorrow at this time it will be done. His will will be done. I am not a bible beater by any means ( and please don't anyone be offended one way or another). I can just tell that you are good through and through. It will all be okay.
Love you so much,
Ginger

re: My A2 PTT reconstruction

Cinder,
It's 3:30am , a full moon and the wind is howling like a banshee here so no more sleep for me! I hope you can sleep in a little bit today. I'm so excited for you. It's going to stink for a while, sure, but in the long run it'll be so worth it. Like Kimberly said, we'll all be anxious to hear how you are. Between the two of you there have been some long waits for these surgeries. Be well and strong. (That sounds like it's from Star Trek! Haha!)
Oh yes, I forgot, ankle is much better this morning...see what a difference a couple of weeks can make? Last time it was horrible! You just have to be patient. Keep that thought in mind. It will come in handy many times.

The morning wait is the worst, but hopefully it will go quickly. I might try to dust a bit. hahahahahaha I will update you when I can. Thanks again for walking with me on this journey. It's a been a long journey, but all of you made is so much better. We should all have a get together in NYC when we are better. hahahahahahaha
