| Failed Bunion Surgery
I had a Metatarsal Osteotomy 6 weeks ago and have just been told bone graft didnt take so operation has failed. Also found out no screws or wires were used to stabalise the graft, just had a 1/2 foot solid plaster cast for 2 weeks and then a more lightweight plastic wrap round bootee for a further 4 weeks. When that came off was told graft hadnt taken. I cant believe no wires or screws were used or even a solid plaster cast put on for more than just 2 weeks. Do I have it done again? Bony lump was removed and a piece used for the graft, so just the graft will need doing again? Where will they get the bone from tho? So fed up to think all the pain and discomfort Ive gone through has been a waste of time. Anyone else had this happen? Have insisted I see consultant again in the very near future. If I do need to have it done again is it best to do it now or wait for the foot to totally recover? Advice would be apprecaited.
