Pain still after bunionectomy and osteotomy 2nd metatrasal
Hello i am almost 6 six post op for bunionectomy and osteotomy second metayatsal for crossover toe i still have alot of pain and my foot hates to be down for even a short period of time i feel i need pain meds still at bedtime and need more is it unreasonable to ask the doctor for more at this point ?

6 weeks - not unreasonable to take something. 6 months - you have other issues to deal with.

Thank you for your reply i am a chicken to ask for pain meds but this surgery has had me needing something so much longer than i have ever needed and i have had many other orthopedic surgeries and didnfine with pain management . Most of the times i dont take anything during the day i use ice but as the day goes on and if i am out an about by afternoon i get very uncomfrtsbke , thsnks again !

Everybody has a different response to pain and healing. I stopped taking pain meds a few days post op after double bunionectomy and hammertoes. It's been 7 weeks now and I'm still unable to bend the toes into shoes... hopefully soon cause the snow is coming.

Yes this is true about how people deal with pain is difffent i dont know if having rheumatoid adds to the pain or what bu i fel i generally handle pain but this is lasting a long time ! I saw the doctor monday and had xrays and come to find out i have a hematoma insidethe foot that coukd be causing pain to linger plus alot more swelling i have to go back for another x ray in six weeks to see if has gone away which i hope it does ! And as far as pain meds my doctor soesnt want me taking them now because they could be masking the symptoms of the hematoma ! Boy i had a bad night last night it stinks habing to suffer !
