I have just been told by my doctor that I can start to walk on my foot after 6 weeks of being immobilised in a cast then a boot and crutches. I am in so much pain, just wondering should I do crutches and put my foot flat on the floor using the boot or ditch the crutches altogether and just do the boot.
Re: Fractured ankle - 6 weeks on - need rehab help
I would go gradual if I were you. Start out doing partial weight bearing with crutches and work your way to full weight bearing. Listen to your body though. You're going to probably experience some extra swelling and pain for a while. You will need to do some more ice and elevation. You could start with the boot too at first if you are more comfortable with that. No one knows your body more than yourself.
Take care!

I agree with Kimberly. I would think that working your way slowly into it makes sense. Just try to do a little more for a little longer every day.
Good luck!

Thank you good advise. I tried today with the crutches and putting just a little bit of weight on my foot and went ok. A little sore but to be expected.
