| Raised Pinky toe after Tailor's Bunionectomy
I had an Austin bunionectomy and 5th metatarsal osteotomy, ( Tailor’s) 10 months ago (3/2012). It has all been a nightmare and complicated. Even though there is still swelling and sore, im finally at a point where I can see my recovery going in the right direction ( even it is super slow). Im 26 yrs old and expected to have a wonderful recovery.
My current issue is my pinky toe. I used to be able to flare out my pinkys and now I have minimal strength in my toe and it leans heavily on my fourth toe. Also, when I place weight on it my pinky toe is about ¼ inch off the ground. At 3 months , I mentioned this to my PT and she said it was normal and that it would go away as soon as I strengthen my foot again. My DPM also said that it was just a matter of strengthening my flexor muscles. But at 10 months out I see no results. I have done it all: towel scurls, walk barefoot, stretch my toes out, yoga toes, wraps, vicks, traumeel, cortisone shots, ( 2 rounds ), massage, ice, Epsom salt soaks .
Last week I saw a different DPM for a non related ankle injury and I asked him about my raised toe, in which he said that at this point of my recovery it was probably going to stay like that.
I take back this whole surgery every day and it is depressing. Has anyone experienced anything similar with Tailor’s surgery?
