Gallbladder stones and removal is a very common operation these days. Unfortunately, most doctors DO NOT tell us about the possible after effects of this procedure. Chronic diahrrea (which many confuse with irritable bowel syndrome), stomach pain, cramping, gas, phantom gallbladder pain, seem to be some of the most common. Being a gallbladder removal patient myself...I've just learned about all these side effects of the operation. I can't imagine how many others are out there right now, who are having problems and have no idea why this is happening to them. Eating out is a scary proposition when you've had your gallbladder removed, or it's full of stones....soon you'll have a mental map of every restroom in town and Immodium AD and Gas X will be your new best friends.

I would also be interested in this new board topic. I'm in the same boat - it is my understanding this is called gallbladder syndrome and I've got it semi under control by using acidophilus, the Zone (or Krimmel) Diet and digestive enzymes. I've had to eliminate some dairy, mustard, cooking and salad oils, fatty or greasy foods, etc. My travelling distance is limited to about 20 miles since 1991. mike-s

I have to say that this topic would be great. I have got gall stones, they are quite big and the docs say that having it out is my best option, if I am to do this, I would like to have some kind of support....

Hi,
I have posted messages on the IBS board for over a year and have seen many postings about IBS being mixed up with the after effects of Gallbladder removal.It does not happen to everyone but enough people!!!
I think it is a Great idea to have a board devoted just to Gallbladder or No gallbladder symptoms.

Yes!!! I can't agree with you more!!! I just turned 30 & felt just fine until my gb attacks started 1 year ago. Then last March I had it removed due to stones. I have not felt the same. I am MISERABLE. I was told that I might have diarrhea "for a little while until your body adjusts". No one mentioned the abdominal pain/bloating. I think the gb is removed too easily these days. I recommend drug therapy/shock wave treatment to anyone that has stones. This would be a great new healthboard!!!!
