Gall bladder attacks w/ no GB!?

For those who had their GB removed, do you still get pains after you eat? I sure do! just like a GB attack just not as bad or as long. My GB proceedure was complicated. if you are unfamiliar with my story read my post "My GB Story (long)" . to Kind of sum it up i had my Gb removed... got panceatitis(sp?)... had 2 ERCP's ... on the second one they were doing a spicterotomy(sry sp?) they some how cut my liver. Anyway i went to a different dr. 2 days ago and told them about my new problem and he said sometimes people are told they need their GB removeed when really its a whole other problem. Not the case with me i did need it removed i had loads of stones. he aslo said the pain could be from an ucler on the common bile duct... or that there is still somehow a stone still in there but unlikly in my case. also he said i could have scare tissue from the spicterotomy. so now i have to get more blood tests and a MRCP, to try and see what the problem is... but if there is a problem i prob. have to get another ERCP! EEEEKKKKKK! i might want to live with the pain. very scared! but i was just wondering if anyone else is having pain after removal?

Re: Gall bladder attacks w/ no GB!?

My husband has been having some of the same kind of problems. He is complaining in the upper right quaidrent of constant pain, but it is worse if he tries to eat. He's also having burning back pain in the the middle of his back. He says it hurts just like it did before he had his gallbladder removed. We've done a Cat Scan, upper GI, barium enema, blood work, a few X-rays, and so far we haven't found anything. Finally, he is getting seen by a gastro Dr in early October. He became very constipated after getting the upper GI done and X-rays showed that the barium had set up around where he was hurting. He was nauseated and in so much pain. A week later, he vomited up bile a few times and then the other day, he did the same thing. We've been to the ER 3 times in 3 weeks. They basically just send us home. He's lost 40lbs in 4 weeks. And, he hasn't been able to work for 6 weeks due to the pain. I'm hoping his gastro Dr will be able to help him. He is miserable. Even after all these years, it could still be possible he has a stone caught in one of the ducts, his Dr said.

Re: Gall bladder attacks w/ no GB!?

I had my gallbladder removed early July. I used to suffer from extreme attacks lasting 10-11 hours.
I no longer have "attacks" or that insane pain. I do sometimes think that my body still thinks I have a gallbladder though. I get bloated and achey where my gallbladder used to be after I eat.
I still am afraid to indulge in the foods that gave me bad attacks, however I am far better off then before. As uncomfortable as it gets at least it's not as painful.
Good luck to you guys who are still having the attacks. How terrible that must be after thinking you've solved the problem.
Please keep me posted.

Re: Gall bladder attacks w/ no GB!?

I also haven't felt good, since I had mine removed last July, I had the upper GI test done 2 weeks ago, still very consitpated from that also, said that looked ok but.....

said they wanted me to do a MRI as they think ? the cysts that I have maybe the cause of the problems ( didn't have these cysts until after I had surgery ) so they had me go to another hospital that does that test.... am waiting for the results.

I hope you all get some answers

I know everytime I have surgery, I felt better than I did before they did it.. no win situation...

Take care and God Bless
