Gallbladder Problems - Gallbladder Message Board

Hi There,

I have been having problems since X-mas. It started with what I thought was the flu. I had mid-epigastric pain and nausea. My doctor thought I had gastritis and put me on Nexium. It didn't seem to work and she referred me to a Gastroenterologist. He scoped both upper and lower which was normal. He also ordered a u/s of the gallbladder which was negative. I then went to get a Hyda Scan and it showed my ejection fraction at 5%. The pain is killing me. It doesn't seem to be related to just fatty food. It is in my right shoulder, across my back, sometimes right upper quadrant, sometimes my arms from my elbows up just ache. It can be on just the right or both. I wake up nauseated, I just am miserable. Has anyone else felt this horrible with a nonfunctioning GB or should I be worried about something else? To top it all off I also have a fibroid embedded in my uterus pushing on my bladder, so I pee constantly. They are doing both the gallbladder removal and a laporoscopy on March 11th, but I am so miserable!

Hi!

I had my gallbladder removed in January with an 8% injection fraction and before I had the surgery I was very nauseated for several days (felt like someone had poisoned me) and I had two full blown gallbladder attacks that were very painful and left me very sick to my stomach. This can definitely lead to the symptoms you are talking about. You will feel so much better after surgery...so just think of then!!!!

My GB first acted up in Oct 2004. I went to the ER and had a multitude of tests run and they found nothing. Two weeks later I was again in the ER with severe pains and after many more tests the hyda scan showed my GB was at less than 3%. I opted not to have my GB removed from all the stories of people that still had digestive problems etc even after surgery. I did liver and gallbladder cleanses. The pain has not returned. I swear by the cleanses. I still do them on a regular basis. My doctor just smiles when we talk about it. I guess he doesn't believe in them. But they seem to be working for me. After a cleanse I feel like a million dollars. I have never had pain as severe as a GB attack. I still watch what I eat, but most of the things that set off a GB attack aren't good for you anyway. Seventeen months and no GB problems

I can't say I really ever experienced an acute pain like people describe. It just seems to be chronic. The worst is the arm and back and shoulder pain. I'm wondering if there is an infection. The nausea seems to be worsening.
